Your Devocean Joins the World Record Attempt in Trash Collection

On October 3–4, we will join Hands2Ocean’s world record attempt in underwater and shoreline trash collection. The goal is nothing less than extraordinary: to remove 20 tons of waste from Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea in just 24 hours. The current world record stands at 1.5 tons.

Your Devocean will be on-site to wash, document, and register the collected waste — transforming it into reportable sustainability data.

“Your Devocean are Angels to us, translating our ocean trash to impact. This legitimizes our actions in conversations with our corporate partners and municipalities.”
— Fredrik Johansson, Hands2Ocean

Why This Matters

For too long, our oceans and lakes have been treated as dumping grounds. Out of sight, out of mind. Hands2Ocean is changing that.

Founded in 2018 (originally as Rena Mälaren), the non-profit has since removed an astonishing 458 tons of waste, including 44 tons of lead batteries and 46 tons of e-scooters — preventing decades of damage to aquatic ecosystems. In early 2024, the initiative rebranded to Hands2Ocean to expand its reach.

By translating their incredible environmental effort into EU-aligned sustainability reporting data, Your Devocean enables companies to both sponsor the work and integrate it into their sustainability reporting. It’s a win–win: companies can make a tangible impact while organizations like Hands2Ocean gain the financial support needed to scale — even though the work itself is carried out entirely by volunteers.

Many Hands Needed

For this world record attempt, 300 volunteers are needed — both divers and, even more importantly, people on land. Volunteers will be essential in pulling waste from the water, cleaning it, documenting it, and ensuring that all 20 tons are properly handled.

Dives will take place at several central locations in Stockholm, all accessible by foot, bike, or public transport.

Join Us — Make an Impact

We’re calling on everyone in our network: come and help. Even just a couple of hours of your time can make a massive difference. Let’s join forces and help Hands2Ocean clean up our beautiful Stockholm — not just above the surface, but below it too.
